The british media are going ga-ga over England's victory in the first two tests over india and calling the current English team the future kings of cricket. They just won a couple of games, that too at home, that too against a depleted Indian team, but the eulogies are out in full flow. Well! I don’t think anybody is surprised though.
The Brutish( not a Typo) media have a habit of over-hyping every little thing in their unending quest to prove that Great Britain is indeed Great. Here are a few examples:
1. The English Football team is “Greatest football team in the world” to not win a world cup in the last 45 years.
2. Tim Henman is the “Greatest tennis player ever” to have never won a grand slam. And so is Andy Murray. (Yeah! They have two ‘greatest ever’. After all, its England!!)
3. And their cricket team is the “Best team” among those that never lifted an ODI World cup.
And the best one:
Once a British reporter spotted a chipmunk in yorkshire. Next day, the newspaper screamed “England: Land of the Striped Elephant”. The reporter was promptly Knighted.
A Brit standup comedian I see at the club every week has this to say about his countrymen.
ReplyDelete"Aren't we British just great? We're the only people in the world who know that everything about our country is shit, and STILL think we're better than everybody else."
